Golden Week

Golden Week is rapidly approaching and it seems that everyone is carefully preparing for the event.  I personally have prepared a trip to Kanazawa, a city in Ishikawa prefecture just off the coast of the Sea of Japan.  But prior to my trip I have a few days to kill which I’ll be spending my time traveling around Aichi prefecture.

So what is Golden Week?  I had no idea myself before I started studying Japanese culture.  Golden Week is one of the three busiest times to do anything in Japan.  Along with two other holiday weeks, one in Christmas and one in August, Golden week is a time where most everyone in the country has time off from their jobs and school which allows them to do what Japanese people do better than anyone.  Go sightseeing and travel.

So what is to be expected from Golden Week?!  Well of course I’ll be traveling so I will once again go to Nagoya Castle.  Also, I’ll be attending my first Japanese wedding reception so that should bring about some interesting events.  Despite it being the busiest time of the year, I am also considering a day trip to Kyoto, the old capital of Japan.  With all of the flowers blossoming, I’m sure any pictures I take will turn out quite well.  I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences!
